About

Hello Im Ed - thanks for dropping by. If you’re interested in riding motorbikes, remote travel - and a bit of depth on for flung locations - this blog might be of interest.

I’m a traveller and adventure rider recently diagnosed with complex ptsd after ten years of inpatient and outpatient mental health recovery. The diagnosis has helped me reassess my priorities. Now I'm two wheel driven and back on the dirt where I belong.

Bikes

There is more detail about the bike I will be riding on my future travels on The Bike page and you can find information about my past bikes and Ride So Far here.

After a turbulent youth I was sucked into the vortex of corporate life, struggling with mental health. Spat out the other end at 50 it is clear now, that life is not for me. I am hugely grateful for the clarity and opportunity I now have.

Meet people like you

I’ve always been fascinated by two things since I was a kid - human communities. How people come together in simple, efficient and cohesive social structures and provide each other with the ‘human’ support we all need to really thrive in life. Wherever I’ve been from Norway to Mongolia, Cape Town to Alaska - those bonds exists and are different but somehow similar.

I always remember Ewan McGregor on his adventure the Long Way Round standing outside a classic Kazak Urt and saying “we’re all the same!” after drinking yak milk and almost vomiting.

Bush

My second interest is the bush - bushtucka and, especially in northern Australia, the abundance of food available with some knowledge of the natural environment. I have been fortunate to have learnt from indigenous Australians and elders in northern Australian and aim to keep learning and sharing knowledge and hope you will participate and join in this so we can keep knowledge alive.

Two Wheel Driven

I’m back on the road, where I belong.

What I know for sure is that it would mean the world to me if you would join me on my journey and participate if you would like to.

Thanks

Ed
